ICAEW’s Digital Archive project
ICAEW is building a digital archive that will hold any ICAEW born digital material that is released into the public domain. It’s going to be a massive digital resource for future researchers when the first wave of work is complete, with early estimates of over 30,000 documents.
Preservica is the chosen Digital Archive platform for ICAEW publications – (e.g. helpsheets, technical releases, research reports, press releases and AGM papers, faculty publications, etc.). The first collections available are the monthly issues of economia magazine and the ICAEW Representations but new content is regularly being added.
The first stage of the work involves publications that were originally created digitally, and we will move to digitalising older material later.
Preservica runs a regular check on any file formats at risk, migrating files to the latest version. You will always be able to download a file to read or re-use, even if the original file format has become obsolete. Preservica also runs health checks to protect against loss and corruption.
Preservica’s securely cloud-hosted active digital preservation platform is purpose built to industry standards – OAIS ISO 14721 – to ensure the integrity and usability of digital records and assets over decades.
